WHY COMMISSION’S 17TH PROGRESS REPORT FOR TURKEY IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS REPORT?
The European Commission published 2014 Progress Report for Turkey on 8 October 2014. Together with 80 pages long latest Progress Report, European Commission has published 1786 pages assessing the developments in Turkey for accession to the EU since the first Report in 1998. In other words, European Commission has published Progress Reports for Turkey for more than 6.5 times as Lisbon Treaty when the page length is taken into account. |

IKV ORGANIZED A SEMINAR ON TURKEY-EU RELATIONS IN ROME
IKV organized on the 1st October 2014a seminar entitled “Turkey-EU Relations: The Way Forward” in Rome, Italy which is currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU. This seminar was organized under the framework of the Project “Presidency of the Council of the EU and Turkey-EU Relations” and in cooperation with Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI).

EU-TURKEY READMISSION AGREEMENT ENTERED INTO FORCE
The EU-Turkey Readmission Agreement, signed on 16th December 2013, came into force on 1st October 2014. It marks an important step towards a visa liberalisation with Turkey, since the Agreement is part of the Roadmap for a visa-free regime.
